Died on the Field
Our Renfrew County contemporaries are outspoken in their expressions of sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. S.J. Dempsey, of Cochrane, in the death of their son Private Sam Demsey, who was killed in the trenches on the firing line on October the 10th. Northern friends of the family also extended their sympathy to the bereaved family. The relatives have the consolation of knowing that the young hero did his duty to the Empire, and that his life has not been lost in vain. Scores of his young friends will follow in his steps to the battlefields of Western Europe, all determined to give back blow for blow, until the Huns are compelled to sue openly for peace.
