Capt. Fisher

The news that Dr. A.J. Fisher had volunteered at the front will come as a surprise, because he has reached an age when he might very well have been relieved of such arduous work. But he knew he could do more good at the front than he could do in New Liskeard, and he felt the call so strongly that he had to offer his services. Sir Sam Hughes gladly accepted the Doctor's offer for service, and appointed him Captain in the Canadian Army Medical Corps. AS Captain, Dr. Fisher's duties will consist chiefly in superintending the work. After a battle there are scores of cases requiring immediate attention in every hospital. A skilled surgeon is required to immediately say what must be done in the case of each patient. This is the kind of work which will be assigned to Dr. Fisher. Dr. Fisher will leave for Europe at the earliest moment practicable.
Dr. Fisher comes of fighting stock. His father served his full time in the British army, (23 years of which were spent in India,) as Colonel in the 97^th Regiment.
