Canadian Grenadier Guards Recruitment

On October 23, 1915, the newly formed 87th Battallion Canadian Grenadier Guards started an enlistment program throughout the Province of Quebec. Dundas County, Ontario, Northern Ontario (North Bay/Parry Sound area) and the Ottawa Valley. Lieut. B. G. Todd was responsible for the recruiting in South-West Quebec. Despite more stringent requirements than other recruiting Battalions (the height requirement was 5'8”) the 87th was brought up to strength in a little over 2 months.
