Service Biography

Celestin Leopold Vinette was born at Montreal, Quebec, on 7 February 1897. A single Roman Catholic farmer living at Beauharnois, Quebec, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and entered service at Montreal on 8 July 1918 as Private 3165825 with the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment. His service was confined to Canada. He was discharged on demobilization at Montreal on 20 September 1918.

At recruitment Celestin Leopold Vinette was a single Roman Catholic farmer, born at Montreal, Quebec, on 7 February 1897 and residing at Beauharnois, Beauharnois County, Quebec. His mother, Mrs. Bouthillier Vinette, was next of kin. He was 5 ft 6 in and 145 lb, with a 31–35 in chest, medium complexion, black eyes and black hair.

Drafted under the Military Service Act and served in Canada as Private 3165825 with the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment. His recruit declaration, Medical History Sheet and casualty form agree that his enlistment/joining date was 8 July 1918 at Montreal. A later medical examination was conducted on 21 August 1918. He was struck off strength on return to the Registrar's Records at Montreal on 20 September 1918 and discharged on demobilization. Proceedings cite D.O. Part II No. 244 dated 2 September 1918, P.C. 3051 of 11 December 1918, and Routine Order 1438; the discharge was formally confirmed on 28 April 1919.
