Service Biography

Daniel Samuel Ryan was born at Hemmingford, Quebec, on 24 February 1896. A single Roman Catholic farmer, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and entered Canadian Expeditionary Force service at Montreal on 17 July 1918 as Private 3087697 with the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Quebec Regiment. He served in Canada. On 17 August 1918 Ryan was struck off strength on return to the Registrar's Records and discharged under P.C. 1835 of 11 July 1918.

1918-08-17 — Struck off strength on return to Registrar's Records and discharged under P.C. 1835 of 11 July 1918.

His Medical History Sheet records Category C3, height 5 ft 7 1/4 in, weight 152 1/2 lb, chest 32–36 in, ruddy complexion, blue eyes and light-brown hair. His uncle William Dwyer of Hemmingford was his next of kin.
