Service Biography

Michael Moriarty was born at Saint-Anicet, Quebec, on 1 August 1898 and was living in Huntingdon when called up under the Military Service Act. He joined the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Quebec Regiment at Montreal on 7 June 1918 as Private 3081193. His service was in Canada. He was struck off strength as a deserter at Montreal effective 27 June 1918; the action was subsequently authorized by a Court of Inquiry.

At his Military Service Act medical examination Moriarty was 5 ft 5 in tall, weighed 138 lb, had a 34-inch minimum chest with 2-inch expansion, fair complexion, blue eyes and brown hair.
