Service Biography

Edgar Patenaude was born at St-Stanislas, Quebec, on 21 October 1897. A student living at Valleyfield, Quebec, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and entered the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1918. He embarked from Quebec on 27 July 1918, arrived in England on 8 August and served with the 10th Canadian Reserve Battalion before later depot postings. He returned to Canada in July 1919 and was discharged at Montreal on 30 July 1919 on demobilization.

Notes

At calling up Patenaude was recorded as a single Roman Catholic student living at Valleyfield, Quebec. He was 5 ft 6 in tall, weighed 142 lb, and had a maximum chest measurement of 38½ in with 2½ in expansion. The recruit form described his complexion as clear, eyes as blue and hair as hazel.

Drafted under the Military Service Act, 1917, Edgar Patenaude entered the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1918. His service records contain both 3 June 1918 and 8 July 1918 as enlistment/service dates: the discharge certificate and pay record use 3 June, while the casualty form records enlistment and service reckoning from 8 July. He embarked from Quebec on 27 July 1918, arrived in England on 8 August, and was taken on strength of the 10th Canadian Reserve Battalion. In 1919 he passed through the 2nd Canadian Command Depot and Q.R.D. before returning to Canada. He was discharged at Montreal on 30 July 1919 on demobilization.
