Notes

Bryson grew up in Brysonville on his father Stanley Bryson's dairy farm. His education records conflict: an occupational-history form says he left school at 13 after reaching Grade 5, while the 1945 rehabilitation interview says he completed Grade 6 in 1938 at Ormstown. Before enlistment he worked for his father as a farm hand and chauffeur and reported about 17 years of farm experience. He intended to return to the family dairy farm after discharge. His 1996 obituary records that his wife, Mae Graham, predeceased him; he was survived by daughter Valerie Gauthier of Kamloops, sons David and Merrick of Thunder Bay, four grandchildren, brother Jim Bryson of Brysonville, and sisters Margaret Taylor of Levack and Ruth McIntyre of Huntingdon.
