Service Biography

Fernand Perreault enlisted in the Canadian Army on 21 July 1941 and served as a sapper with the Royal Canadian Engineers. He went overseas in December 1942, served in the United Kingdom and Northwest Europe, including France, and returned to Canada in December 1945. He was discharged at Montreal South on 18 January 1946 with the rank of Lance Corporal.

Notes

At enlistment Perreault was 5 ft 5¼ in tall and weighed 130 lb, with a 35½ in chest and 2½ in expansion; he had a medium complexion, blue eyes and fair hair. He spoke French and had completed about five years of public schooling. A 1942 personnel interview recorded hockey and softball as sports and dancing as a hobby.

Married Marie-Marguerite Perreault on 31 October 1940. Their son Joseph Henri Jean-Guy was born 19 November 1941. A 1942 personnel interview states that both parents were deceased, one brother was serving in the Army, and five sisters were married. By July 1945 the record again states that he and his wife had one child.
