Notes

Completed high school in Montreal and later studied accountancy/business. Before the war he worked as a cost accountant. He was described in the pre-release interview as English-speaking, with extensive overseas experience and leadership responsibilities. The file continues with postwar militia, medical and veterans-benefit material, which must remain distinct from the WW2 service episode. Active Militia appointment papers show that he was appointed Second Lieutenant in B Squadron, 17th Duke of York's Royal Canadian Hussars, effective 24 May 1940. They also record attendance at the High School of Montreal from 1925 to 1930, with Junior Matriculation / School Leaving.
