Service Biography
George Eric Leslie Clark was born in Montreal, Quebec, on 8 November 1920. He had attended Huntingdon Academy as a youth. Before the war he served with the Prince of Wales Rangers (M.G.) and was working as a clerk when he enlisted for active service at Toronto on 13 December 1941. He served with the Royal Canadian Artillery, including the 30th Light Anti-Aircraft Battery and 6th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment. Clark embarked for overseas service in October 1942 and was promoted to Lance Bombardier on 23 June 1943. After serving in the United Kingdom, he embarked for Northwest Europe on 3 July 1944 and disembarked in France four days later. Lance Bombardier Clark was killed in action in Normandy on 26 July 1944 as the Canadians pushed inland from Juno Beach. He is buried at Beny-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery, France, Plot 28, Row 1, Grave 7.
