Elaine Susanna Wright was born at Howick, Quebec, on 29 April 1914. A trained and registered nurse, she was working at General Hospital in Sweetsburg, Quebec, when she was appointed a Nursing Sister in the Active Militia of Canada, R.C.A.M.C., in June 1940. She entered the Canadian Active Service Force that October and served overseas with No. 1 Canadian General Hospital first in the United Kingdom, where her service included hospital and training postings in England, then moved with the No. 1 Canadian Hospital to Italy in November 1943. In March 1945 the Hospital moved again, this time to France and Northwest Europe. On 30 April 1945 she married Lieutenant Peter Meighen Webster at Brussels, Belgium. She returned to Canada in 1945 and was struck off strength of the Canadian Army (Active) on 10 October 1945, returning to reserve status.

She was a trained and registered nurse; before joining the Canadian Active Service Force she was employed at General Hospital, Sweetsburg, Quebec, and held Quebec Registered Nurse number 37-450. She served as a Nursing Sister and Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. While overseas she served with No. 1 Canadian General Hospital in the United Kingdom, Italy/Central Mediterranean Area, and Northwest Europe. On 30 April 1945 she married Lieutenant Peter Meighen Webster at Brussels, Belgium and thereafter appears in the service file as Elaine Susanna Webster. Her medals included the 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, War Medal 1939-45, and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp.
