George Lawrence McClintock was born at Ormstown, Quebec, on 11 July 1915, the son of George Cairns McClintock and Laura Jane Reid. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying hockey. Prior to enlistment he worked first on the family fam, and at the time of enlistment he was working as a truck driver for Daniel Transport in Ormstown. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force at Montreal on 2 September 1941 and served as an Aero Engine Mechanic, attaining the rank of Leading Aircraftman. He tried for, and was unsuccessful, at gaining a promotion to Air Crew. While in service he met and married Helen Adele Couch in Trenton, Ontario, where he was stationed, on 7 April 1943. In later documents he states his intent to work for his father-in-law in the clothing retail industry post service. He served in Canada for the duration of the war and was discharged at Trenton in 1945 after completing his voluntary service. He died at Trenton on 4 December 1991 and was buried in White's Cemetery, Trenton, Ontario.
