Service Biography

Joseph E. Taylor was born on 20 September 1881 at Oldham, Lancashire, England. A married Church of England steamfitter living at Valleyfield, Quebec, he enlisted at Montreal on 15 May 1916. He served in Bermuda and Canada with the Canadian Expeditionary Force, including the 206th Battalion, Special Service, and the 4th Battalion, Canadian Garrison Regiment. He was appointed Lance-Corporal in June 1918 and was discharged at Montreal on 29 January 1919 on demobilization.
