Service Biography

Joseph Armand Quevillon was born at Ste. Martine, Quebec, on 12 August 1897. A single Roman Catholic private stenographer, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force at Quebec on 23 May 1918 as Private 3280746. He served in Canada, was promoted to Temporary Sergeant in July 1918 and to Company Sergeant-Major on 27 March 1919. He later served with 5th C.G.R. and was discharged at Quebec on 18 July 1919 on demobilization.

Notes

At enlistment he was recorded as 5 ft 3 in tall, with a fully expanded chest of 34 in and 3 in expansion, dark complexion, brown eyes and black hair. The Military Service Act medical history records weight 125 lb. A 4 June 1918 medical-history entry at Drill Hall records vaccination. Leaving-service examinations recorded good general health and no disability, while noting chronic tonsillitis with recurrent attacks and ingrowing toenails affecting both feet.

The Casualty Form records transfer to '3rd/2nd Quebec Regt.' on 22 June 1918, promotion to Temporary Sergeant on 16 July 1918, and administrative service as a clerk. He was promoted to Company Sergeant-Major at Quebec on 27 March 1919 and transferred to 5th C.G.R. on 11 April 1919.
