Service Biography

Napoleon Mallette was born at Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois, Quebec, on 11 September 1894 and worked as a farmer. Drafted under the Military Service Act, he attested at Montreal on 8 July 1918 as Private 3165766 with the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment. His service was in Canada. He was discharged at Montreal on 19 September 1918 on demobilization after being returned to the Registrar's Records.

Notes

Mallette was single, Roman Catholic and a farmer. He was born on 11 September 1894 at Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois, Quebec, where he was also living when called up. His father, Philorum Mallette, was next of kin. He reported no Active Militia membership and no previous military or naval service. The 20 August 1918 medical examination recorded height 5 feet 7 inches, weight 133 pounds, chest 32 to 34 inches, clear complexion, blue eyes, fair hair and good physical development.

His formal medical examination and joining-processing took place at Montreal on 20 August 1918. His surviving file contains no overseas movement and documents Canadian-only depot service. On 19 September 1918 he was struck off strength on return to the Registrar's Records and discharged at Montreal on demobilization. The Proceedings on Discharge was subsequently confirmed at Montreal on 17 April 1919.
