Service Biography

Robert Allan Scott was born at Valleyfield, Quebec, on 6 June 1894. An architectural draughtsman with previous McGill C.O.T.C. experience, he enlisted at Montreal on 6 October 1915 as Gunner 302932 with Canadian siege artillery. He arrived in England in December 1915 and served in France from June 1916. He later served with Canadian Corps Headquarters, including its Topographical and Survey Sections, and was appointed Acting Sergeant. In June 1918 he was sent to the Canadian Survey Depot at Shorncliffe with a view to obtaining a Royal Air Force commission; a Royal Air Force entry card dated 8 July records him as a Cadet. He was discharged at Montreal on 31 March 1919 on demobilization.

Robert Allan Scott was born at Valleyfield, Quebec, on 6 June 1894. A single Presbyterian architectural draughtsman, he named his father William Scott of Valleyfield as next of kin. He had previous military experience with the McGill C.O.T.C.

He arrived in England on 27 December 1915 and embarked for France on 18 June 1916. His unit was subsequently recorded as the 107th Canadian Siege Battery, later the 3rd Canadian Siege Battery. He was attached to Canadian Corps Headquarters, served with the Canadian Corps Topographical and Survey Sections, and was appointed Acting Sergeant without pay. On 18 June 1918 he was sent to the Canadian Survey Depot at Shorncliffe with a view to obtaining a commission in the Royal Air Force. A Royal Air Force entry card dated 8 July 1918 identifies him as a Cadet. His C.E.F. discharge records continued to identify him with the 3rd Canadian Siege Battery. He was discharged at Montreal on 31 March 1919 on demobilization.
