Service Biography
Dosithie Trudel was born at Valleyfield, Quebec, on 13 April 1897. A single Roman Catholic student, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and enlisted at Quebec on 9 July 1918 with the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Quebec Regiment. He sailed overseas aboard S.S. Somali, trained in England with reserve battalions, and was posted to the 24th Battalion in France. He joined the battalion in the field in December 1918. After returning through England for demobilization, he came back to Canada and was discharged at Montreal on 18 May 1919.

The recruit form records Dosithie Trudel as single, Roman Catholic and a student, born at Valleyfield, Quebec, and residing at Valleyfield. His father, Dosithie Trudel Sr., also of Valleyfield, was next of kin. He reported no Active Militia or previous military service. The original Medical Sheet records height 5 ft 1¼ in, weight 116 lb, chest 30½–33 in, giving 2½ in expansion, fair physical development, blue eyes and black hair. The leaving-service medical examination records good general health and no disability; it notes a history of typhoid fever about eight years earlier.

Dosithie Trudel was drafted under the Military Service Act and enlisted at Quebec on 9 July 1918 with the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Quebec Regiment, Canadian Expeditionary Force. He embarked from Quebec on 21 July 1918 and arrived at Tilbury, England, aboard S.S. Somali on 8 August. He was taken on strength of the 10th Reserve Battalion at Bramshott, later transferred through the 23rd Reserve Battalion, and was posted to the 24th Battalion. He arrived in France in November 1918, passed through the Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp, and joined the 24th Battalion in the field on 24 December 1918. In April 1919 he proceeded to England and entered the demobilization stream through J Wing, Canadian Corps Camp, Witley. He proceeded to Canada in May and was discharged at Montreal on 18 May 1919 on demobilization.
