Service Biography

Edward Waddington was born at Valleyfield, Quebec, on 12 January 1896. A single Church of England weaver living at Valleyfield, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and entered service at Montreal on 3 January 1918 as Private 3080582 with the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Quebec Regiment. His service was confined to Canada. He was discharged on demobilization at Montreal on 30 November 1918.

Notes

At recruitment Edward Waddington was a single Church of England weaver, born at Valleyfield, Quebec, on 12 January 1896 and residing at No. 11 Ward Avenue, Valleyfield, Quebec. His mother, Mrs. Sarah Jane Parker of 2271 Jacques-Hertel Street, Ville-Émard, Quebec, was next of kin. He was 5 ft 10 in and 131 lb, with a 33.25–35 in chest, medium complexion, brown eyes and light brown hair. The Medical History Sheet notes a transverse scar over the sternum and a poorly developed chest.

Drafted under the Military Service Act and served in Canada as Private 3080582 with the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Quebec Regiment. He enlisted and joined at Montreal on 3 January 1918. His recruit form records category C1, and the Medical History Sheet notes a poorly developed chest. He had no previous military or naval service. He was struck off strength on return to the Registrar's Records at Montreal and discharged on demobilization on 30 November 1918. D.O. Part II No. 312 was dated 8 November 1918; later Proceedings on Discharge cite P.C. 3051 dated 11 December 1918 and Routine Order 1438. The discharge was formally confirmed on 8 March 1919.
