Notes
Joseph Armand Weaner was born at Valleyfield, Beauharnois County, Quebec, on 16 October 1895. At recruitment he was single and a telegraph operator, living at Valleyfield. His father Arthur Weaner, also of Valleyfield, was next of kin. The original Roman Catholic religion entry is struck through and replaced by Presbyterian. He reported no Active Militia or previous military/naval service. The Medical History Sheet records age 23 years 8 months, height 5 ft 3 in, weight 145 lb, chest 31–34 in, brown complexion, brown eyes, brown hair, good physical development and category C2.

Drafted under the Military Service Act and joined at Montreal on 14 August 1918 as Private 3171974 with the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment. His service was confined to Canada. He was struck off strength on return to the Registrar's Records at Montreal on 13 September 1918 and discharged the same day on demobilization. D.O. Part II No. 246 was dated 4 September 1918; later discharge proceedings cite P.C. 3051 dated 11 December 1918 and Routine Order 1438. The discharge was formally confirmed at Montreal on 29 April 1919.
