Service Biography

Donat Sauve was born at St-Timothee, Quebec, on 6 January 1897. A single Roman Catholic student living at Valleyfield, Quebec, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and entered Canadian Expeditionary Force service at Montreal on 23 May 1918 as Private 3161696. He served in England and France, including with the 22nd Canadian Infantry Battalion. After treatment for influenza in England in 1919, Sauve returned to Canada and was discharged at Montreal on 7 July 1919 on demobilization.

Notes

Sauve was a single Roman Catholic student from Valleyfield, Quebec. He had one year of cadet service before enlistment. At calling up he was 5 ft 5 in tall, weighed 115 lb, and had a chest measurement of 30–33 in; he was classified A2. His father Leopold Sauve of Valleyfield was next of kin.

Additional Service Notes

Drafted under the Military Service Act, Donat Sauve joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force at Montreal on 23 May 1918. After Canadian training and transfer through reinforcement units in England, he served in France as a private with the 22nd Canadian Infantry Battalion. In 1919 he was hospitalized in England with influenza, later returned to Canada, and was discharged at Montreal on 7 July 1919 on demobilization.
