Service Biography

Antonio Monette was born at Valleyfield, Beauharnois County, Quebec, on 23 February 1890. An engineer, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and his service was reckoned from 11 November 1917. He served in Canada as a private with the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment. He reported at Montreal in September 1918 after a prolonged absence and was admonished with forfeiture of pay. After becoming absent again on 26 September, a Court of Inquiry declared him illegally absent, and he was struck off strength as a deserter.
