A married Roman Catholic and a carter by occupation, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and joined the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment, at Montreal on 10 June 1918 as Private 3163120. His wife, Laurencia Leboeuf of Champlain Street, Valleyfield, was named as next of kin. His service was confined to Canada, and he was struck off strength on return to the Registrar's Records on 10 July 1918.
