Service Biography

Albert Langevin was born in Valleyfield, Quebec, on March 22, 1894, the son of Oscar and Euphrasia Langevin. A clerk and single at the time of his service, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force at Montreal on March 14, 1918, with service number 3156924. He sailed from Canada on March 24 aboard the S.S. Grampian and arrived in England on April 3. Langevin served with the 10th Canadian Reserve Battalion and was temporarily connected with the Quebec Regimental Depot and 2nd Canadian Command Depot at Bramshott. He was appointed Acting Lance Corporal in August 1918 and Acting Sergeant in January 1919, before reverting to Private in May. He left England for Canada in late June 1919 aboard H.M.T. Caronia and was discharged at Montreal on July 4, 1919, on demobilization. His overseas service was in England.

Notes

A medical board at Bramshott on 14 Apr 1918 reviewed an old right-ankle sprain. Langevin reported pain after walking, but the board found no evidence of active disease, noted only a small bony point below the inner right malleolus, and declared him fit for duty. His discharge medical examination later recorded no disability.
