Alfred Morrissette was born at Ormstown, Quebec, on 10 March 1897 and was farming in Saskatchewan when called up under the Military Service Act. He joined the 1st Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment at Regina on 29 October 1918 as Private 3356443. He was hospitalized at Parish Hall in Regina with influenza from 1 to 14 November 1918 and recovered. After leave and subsequent absence entries, he was struck off strength as a deserter on 18 December 1918.

At his Regina medical examination on 29 October 1918 Morrissette was 6 ft 1 in tall, weighed 175 lb, had a 36-inch minimum and 39-inch maximum chest, ruddy complexion, hazel eyes and brown hair, and was placed in Category A2. He was hospitalized with influenza from 1 to 14 November 1918 and recovered.

Drafted under the Military Service Act, Alfred Morrissette joined the 1st Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment at Regina on 29 October 1918 as Private 3356443. He was admitted to Parish Hall hospital at Regina with influenza on 1 November 1918 and discharged from hospital at 2:30 p.m. on 14 November. The casualty card then records leave from 15 to 21 November, followed by sick-leave/absence entries beginning 22 November and an A.W.L. entry from 28 November 1918. He was struck off strength as a deserter effective 18 December 1918. The casualty card records Court of Inquiry authority dated 21 January 1919; the Last Pay Certificate independently confirms the 18 December S.O.S. date and gives the cause of discharge as Deserter.

His father, Arthur Morrissette of R.R. No. 3, Ormstown, Quebec, was named as next of kin. His will dated 29 October 1918 appointed Arthur Morrissette executor and left his estate to him.
