Service Biography

Alexander Lindsay was born at Ormstown, Quebec, on 11 August 1896. A single Presbyterian farmer, he was drafted under the Military Service Act at Montreal on 17 July 1918 as Private 3087664 with the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Quebec Regiment. He later transferred to the Canadian Engineers and served with the Engineer Training Depot at St. Johns, Quebec. He was formally discharged on demobilization there on 6 January 1919.

At enlistment he was a single Presbyterian farmer from Ormstown, Quebec. He was 5 ft 9 in tall, weighed 145 lb, had a 36 in fully expanded chest with 3 in expansion, medium complexion, blue eyes and dark brown hair. He was classified Category A and reported no previous military service.

Drafted under the Military Service Act at Montreal on 17 July 1918 as Private 3087664 with the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Quebec Regiment. He was granted leave on 31 October 1918 and transferred to the Canadian Engineers on 11 November 1918. He subsequently served with the Engineer Training Depot at St. Johns, Quebec. Demobilization instructions were issued on 23 December 1918; he signed the required release at Beauharnois on 28 December and was formally discharged on demobilization at St. Johns on 6 January 1919.
